The ASA long course National Championships take place at the brand new 50m pool in Liverpool from July 10th to the 13th. Ealing have five swimmers attending all with very good chances of making a top eight finish.

Leading the list of qualifiers is 19 year old James Crawford swimming five events - the 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle, the 100m butterfly and the 100m backstroke. This will be James’ last swim for Ealing for a while as he leaves the UK to take up a full swimming scholarship at the University of South Carolina in early August. James has swum the last five years at the Gurnell based club and has seen his GB ranking improve year on year; he hopes Liverpool will be a good venue to make even greater improvements.

Another of Ealings’s American University based swimmers is 20 year old Holly Mills who travels to Liverpool to race in the 100m & 200m backstroke and 200m and 400m freestyle. Holly has a busy few months ahead of her and shortly after Liverpool she will travel to Canada with the GB team to swim in the Tri-Nations meet (v France and Canada) in Montreal. From there she returns to Florida State University to start the second year of her swimming scholarship. Holly has been in great form. After swimming extremely well in the Olympic Trials in April she was selected for her first full international meet.

Another swimmer with a busy summer is 21 year old Joao Matias who after swimming the 50m and100m butterfly in Liverpool will travel to the Olympics in Beijing to swim for his native Angola . Joao joined coach Dave Heathcock and the rest of the Ealing set up last September and has gone from strength to strength, making National records at the recent World Short Course in Manchester. Gina Heyn has also had international duty this season, swimming for GB at the European Short Course last December – she swims 50 & 100 free and 50 & 100 breast in Liverpool, hoping to improve her top 5 national ranking. Natalie Durant completes the Ealing line-up with her 50 & 200 free and 100 & 200 back events in Liverpool. Natalie also has International Duty lined-up for later in the year with the England Team traveling to India for the Commonwealth Youth Games.

Not swimming in Liverpool will be two regular Ealing swimmers, Jenna Turner & Charlie Turner – however, both are swimming on the other side of the World. Jenna is part of the GB team at the World Youth Champs in Mexico, this follows from her excellent swims at the Olympic Trials and also the European Long Course champs . Charlie Turner, one of Ealing’s highest ranked national swimmers, is at present training at the Pine Crest club in Florida before swimming his specialist 50m and 100m freestyle at the US National Championships later this month.

A busy month for Ealing swimmers will also see competitors at the National Age Group championships in Sheffield 24 – 27 July and the National Youth Champs also in Sheffield 29 July – 2 August .

..Perhaps you would like to know more about how it works?
We currently have 28 '100 club members'
Each member pays £5 per month by standing order –
this creates an income of £140.00 a month
50% of that (£70.00) goes to the club and 50% is given back to 3 lucky winners each month as follows:

1st Prize £42.00 (60% of £70)
2nd Prize £19.60 (28%)
3rd Prize £8.40 (12%)

Check out the ESC website www.ealingsc.co.uk for an up to date list of winners!
The more members we have the higher the prize fund!!
If we had 100 members that would mean a 1st Prize of £150!! every month.
It’s really easy to join...
Phone/write/e.mail YOUR bank and ask them to set up a direct monthly payment to our bank of £5.00 (preferably on the 28th day of each month) ...that's it!

Download Application/standing order form
