Northolt Phoenix continued their excellent run in the North London Graded League when they drew with Acton for first place in Round three held at Gurnell Pool. Acton led all the way to the end but overall victory was denied to them when Northolt managed to win the boy’s squadron -  the last event – and draw for first place.

Swimmers who achieved individual first places were Rebecca Read - 50m breaststroke, Jake Whitehouse - 100m freestyle, and Taylor Swift - 50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke. Second places were taken by Katie Whitehouse - 25m breaststroke; Charlotte Tearle - 25m butterfly and  backstroke; Rebecca Read - 100m breaststroke;  Chloe Holmes - 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle;  David McGregor - 50m backstroke; Matthew Whitehouse - 50m freestyle and Chima Ejiogu 50m butterfly. In third place in their races were Katie Whitehouse - 50m and 25m backstroke;  Sian McDonnell - 25m freestyle;  Adam Doherty - 25m and 50m breaststroke, Jordan Gargarni - 25m breaststroke and 25m freestyle.

There was an impressive number of first places in the relay events. The 4 x 50m girl’s medley race was won by the team of Julia Kowalski backstroke, Sian McDonnell breaststroke,  Rebecca Read butterfly and Eleanor Holmyard freestyle; the boy’s 4 x 25m breaststroke by Chima Ejiogu, Jordan Gargarni, Matthew Whitehouse and Taylor Swift; the boy’s 4 x 25m freestyle band 1 by Tim Manthorpe, Arun Kanagathgurai, James Chamberlain and Jake Whitehouse;  and the boy’s 4 x 25m freestyle band 2 by  Kanagathgurai, Chamberlain, Whitehouse and David McGregor; the 4 x 50m boy’s medley by Whitehouse backstroke, Swift breaststroke, Ejiogu butterfly and Gargani freestyle and the boy’s 8 x 25m freestyle by McGregor, Manthorpe, Swift, Ejiogu, Kanagathgurai, Chamberlain, Whitehouse and Adam Doherty.

Second places were won by the girl’s 4 x 50m freestyle team of Eleanor Holmyard, Julia Kowalski, Charlotte Tearle and Laura McDonnell and the girl’s 8 x 25m freestyle team of McDonnell, Rebecca Read, Olivia Chalmers, Sian Barry, Katie Whitehouse, Holmyard, Tearle and Kowalski; the boy’s 4 x 25m medley team of  Doherty backstroke. McGregor  breaststroke, Ejiogu butterfly, and Chamberlain freestyle and the 4 x 50m freestyle team of Gargarni, Doherty, Whitehouse and McGregor.

Third places went to the girl’s 4 x 25m medley team and the 4 x 25 m freestyle.

The following swimmers were upgraded because they swam faster than the graded times: Charlotte Tearle - 50m backstroke and breaststroke; Julia Kowalski - 25m breaststroke and Taylor Swift - 50m breaststroke and the girl’s  4 x 25m breaststroke team of Eleanor Holmyard, Charlotte Tearle, Lori Ann Gargani, and Laura McDonnell. Northolt’s next gala in this league is  on Saturday May 3rd at Waltham Forest.
