In Round 2 of the North London Graded League, Ealing house Northolt Phoenix followed their first round second place with another excellent result when they just pipped Acton to second place behind winners Leyton.

In an exciting and close fought gala, the team, which included five swimmers swimming in their first gala for Northolt Phoenix, achieved a total of ten first, five second and six third places. Swimmers who won individual races were Taylor Swift 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly; Jake Whitehouse 100m Freestyle; Glen Edwards 50m Breaststroke; Kieran Clarke 25m Backstroke; Chimaka Ejiogu 50m Backstroke; Louise Donahue 50m Breaststroke and Billy Regan 25m Freestyle. Relay first places were taken by the 4x50m girl’s Medley team of  Louise Donahue (Backstroke), Rebecca Read (Breaststroke), Lori Ann Gargani (Butterfly) and  Chimaka Ejiogu (Freestyle) and the 4 x 25m Medley boy’s team of Paul Casillas (Backstroke) Glen Edwards (Breaststroke) David McGregor (Butterfly) and James  Chamberlaine (Freestyle).

Second Places were won by Chima Ejiogu 25m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly, Rebecca Read 100m Breaststroke, Billy Regan  50m Freestyle and the 4x50m Freestyle team of Billy, Chimaka, Charlotte Tearle and Heather May and third places by Adam Doherty 25m Breaststroke, Matthew Whitehouse 50m Freestyle, Tim Manthorpe 25m Freestyle, Lizzie May 25m Backstroke, the 4x50 Freestyle boy’s team of Matthew, Adam, Taylor and David and the 4x25m girl’s Medley team of  Lizzie (Backstroke) Lori Ann (breaststroke), Rebecca (Butterfly) and Sian Barry (Freestyle).

In addition to the first places, six swimmers were upgraded because they swam faster than the graded times. Round 3 will be held on Saturday March 1st at Gurnell Pool.
